WEDNESDAY HEALING SERVICES A group within the church has agreed to sponsor a monthly prayer service for healing on the second Wednesday of the month, beginning July 9th. It will begin at 12:15 and last approximately one half hour. It will take place in the Chapel beside the Fellowship Hall (across from the kitchen). It will consist of a simple service of common prayers, Bible readings, and a time for personal prayer for individuals who wish to share one or more prayer concerns. For those who wish, we will offer oil in remembrance of our Baptism. Please feel free to inform friends and neighbors who are not members of the church concerning this simple service. CRAB FEAST It's the only time of year you can beat your dinner with a mallet! That's right, the crab feast returns, under the same great leadership of Chip Schaffer and Lucy Holman Rector, with some new volunteers! With a menu of crabs, barbeque chicken, potato salad, corn, green salad, cold beer and sodas, what more could you ask for on a Baltimore summer day? Because the crabs are ordered in advance, reservations are necessary for this event. To reserve, fill out the form and drop it in Laurel Bassett's mailbox in the church office. When: August 23rd @ 5:30 PM Cost: Adults - $20 CAR WASH FOR CHARITY On Sunday, August 10th from 10:45 AM-1:00 PM the church will be sponsoring a car wash. Stop on by and for a suggested donation of $5, we’ll scrub your car in the semi-circular drive. All proceeds go to Manna House’s food pantry. SUMMER MOVIE NIGHT On Saturday, July 12th at 6:00 PM, we will gather in the Library to eat pizza and watch a movie - the title will be decided shortly. Nursery care is provided, there is no cost for this event, but please call the church office to reserve so we know how many to plan for. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY Give the gift of learning to an adult in Baltimore City! The Greater Homewood Adult Literacy Program needs volunteers to tutor adults in basic math, reading and writing. Together we can make a difference in our community. Located across from JHU! Call 410-261-3524 for more details. OUR FAIR TRADE CUP RUNNETH OVER Coffee cups are brimming over with justice in Lutheran parishes and households across the U.S. Not only have U.S. Lutherans met the 90 Ton Challenge, you far exceeded it with the purchase of more than 99 tons - 99.04 tons to be exact - of fair trade coffee through the LWR Coffee Project during the yearlong campaign. Keep the justice pouring! Call or log on for more info: 1-800-LWR-LWR-2 or lwr.org/coffee. |
