SUNDAY SCHOOL CONFIRMATION FIRST COMMUNION CHILDREN'S SERMON PRESCHOOL
Children And Youth ~ Confirmation
Confirmation is an integral component of the education ministry of the Church and the spiritual development of young Christians. At the time of baptism, it is a child's parents who assume the responsibility to educate their child in the Christian faith. As the child matures into young adults, the time comes for their own personal examination of the Christian faith and they must make a conscious and informed decision to become a child of God through Christ. Confirmation is the process when those baptized undergo special instruction in their faith to more closely identify with the Christian community and participate more fully in its mission.

Usually beginning when students enter the seventh grade, they grow into discipleship by learning the traditions of our faith. The students are taught the text and underlying doctrines of the Apostles Creed, Lord’s Prayer, Ten Commandments, and the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. Additionally, students are instructed in various aspects of the Bible and our liturgy. The goal is to share a common understanding of the Christian faith in all its essentials; the Church, its purpose and function; and living a Christian life.

Once completed, the students become a full member of First English Evangelical Lutheran Church at a ceremony before the congregation and thereafter assume their own responsibility for further Christian development.

Students from First English Evangelical Lutheran Church combine forces with the students from Ascension Lutheran Church for a dynamic program.

Using “Faith Inkubators” as a curriculum guide, the confirmation classes have explored the books of the New Testament, the Apostles Creed and the Lord’s Prayer. Confirmation also includes field trips, retreats and special projects.

The schedule for confirmation is Thursday each week at 7:00 p.m.
